Lake Qaroun
One of the oldest natural lakes in the world, Lake Qaroun covers an area of approximately 235 km².
It is a saltwater lake, home to two islands: Golden Horn Island and Hammoud Island.

It hosts a large number of resident birds, and welcomes thousands of migratory birds every year, making it a vital stopover along major migration routes
